India

The two primary agencies responsible for regulating and managing India's telecom sector are the DOT and TRAI.

• India Department of Telecommunications - DOT is responsible for national telecom policy and licensing as well as development and investment in the telecom industry.
• Telecom Regulatory Authority of India - TRAI is responsible for regulation of landline, mobile, internet, and other communications providers.
• India National Numbering Plan [large pdf] - This plan published 2003 by DOT provides detailed information on telephone numbering throughout India.
• Study Paper on the National Numbering Plan [pdf] - Study published Apr 2009 by TRAI that provides some recommended changes to the National Numbering Plan.

United States / North America

• North American Numbering Plan Administrator - NANPA is the administrator for telephone numbers in North America, including numerous Caribbean and other smaller countries that are members of the North American Numbering Plan.

• US Federal Communications Commission - The FCC is a US government agency that "is charged with regulating interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. The FCC's jurisdiction covers the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. possessions."

• Canadian Numbering Administrator - CNA manages Canadian phone numbers consistent with the guidelines of the North American Numbering Plan.
